Short Report 5/28

Grace and Peace to you friends. 

Campaign season is heating up and the work in Tanzania is set to enjoy a lot of guests in the coming weeks.  Tom Watkins from Hattiesburg, MS is there now, leading a group of four college students.  They have been doing some good work in Dodoma, the captial city of Tanzania. 

Meanwhile the group from the Central Church of Christ in Augusta, GA have arrived safely and will be focused in the Kisongo area, near the Andrew Connally School of Preaching. Join with me in praying for the safety and effectiveness of all of these workers.

Josephat brings us good news from the Kilimanjaro Bible School in Moshi.  A Muslim girl named Latifah, who has been taking classes at the school, was baptized last week, along with Rose, whose husband is already a member there.  We rejoice with the angels of this!

My reporting and fundraising efforts in the past couple of weeks have taken me to meet with wonderful brethren in:

• Beech Grove, TN

Please continue to pray with me about the fundraising efforts. Things are progressing well, but the mission is still about $6,450 per month away from meeting budget so we have a long way to go!  Jehovah jireh!

Short Report 5/20

I hope that you all had a great weekend!  I'm sure that the ACSOP students did, as they completed the semester on Friday and have headed home for a well-needed break.  To recap some of the recent good being done, here is a message from our Director of Legal and Logistics, Charles Mwanga:
 

"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? (Romans 1:14-15). These are powerful statements made by the Apostle Paul showing the importance of both parties being included in the process of bringing one to Christ. The Apostle is insisting on the important of hearing the message which will save them but also showing the important of the messenger too, since “has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…..,” (Hebrews 1:2) and the Son has commanded His disciples to go in to all the World and preach, (Mark 16:15-16).

 "This world is not safe without Jesus, that’s why here at Andrew Connally School of Preaching we are striving to go out and reach as many as we can before it is too late. Our students have been sent out on the weekends to help the surrounding congregations. The following has been the school’s accomplishment since the third week of February 2019. 92 New classes were established, 63 old classes were still being followed, 38 souls have been restored and 9 new souls have been added in His Kingdom.

"All these and many other good things are going on in the Lord’s Kingdom, just because you have partnered us in working for His course and bringing many to HIM. Thank you so much for your support and prayers. Please keep our students in your prayers, as they will be going back home. To God be the glory both now and forever."                                          - Charles Mwanga

 

I also need to remind you who love this work that we are still dealing with a very significant budget deficit.  If you can help at all, then please do.  If you would like an in-person presentation about the work, then I would love to come and visit with you and your congregation!

Short Report 5/13

Grace and Peace to you friends. 

Campaign season is about to arrive and we are excited about the flurry of visitors that will travel to Tanzania in the coming weeks.  This past weekend, Jimmy Gee arrived with the first group.  Jimmy will teach a short course at ACSOP on The New Testament church.  Meanwhile, Maisha Wester, Brandy Ludwicy, Andrew Jensen, and Heather and Candace Gee will do evangelistic work in the Kisongo area.  We pray for the success of their efforts.

In light of campaign season, one great need is for tracts to distribute.  We're spending $5,000 to print tracts for distribution during these campaigns.  If you would like to contribute to defraying these costs, then you can send those funds to:

In the meantime, I've been wearing out the roads to share the Tanzania work and try to raise funds for the mission.  Just in the past nine days I've visited with the good brethren at the 2nd and Adams church in Elk City, OK, those in Theo, MS, along with South Pittsburg, TN, and Alvaton, KY.  I enjoyed each visit and pray that God provides.

Short Report 5/5

Grace and Peace to you friends. 

This week I have good news and bad news to share with you.  Let's start with the bad news.  We've been praying for rain to help the farm, but we got more than we bargained for!  A cyclone on the southern coast pushed enormous amounts of rain to Arusha.  The school had some flooding and more than 500 of our chickens drowned.  While this is a significant setback for the farm, the team is already hard at work making the best of the situation and figuring out how to recover.

Speaking of recovering, that brings us to the good news.  Our brother, Yusuph Mdaki brings cause for celebration from the Imalamagigo church.  This congregation had previously fallen away.  He writes: 

"Remember, this congregation was the first congregation to be planted at Ushirombo and had more than 120 believers. Many of them backslid because of the two things, first there was no preachers and second, no place for gathering"

Now an ACSOP graduate is ready to work with them, and a Christian has volunteered his home to host the congregation.  They went to the homes of 50 families with the result that 40 families (consisting of 77 people) have been restored!  Let us praise God for this wonderful news, and pray for the future of this congregation.
